Joel Stern

Naarm-based artist, curator and researcher Joel Stern investigates how our contemporary worlds are shaped by sound and listening practices. He's been making experimental sounds for years, both in groups like Sky Needle, Soft Power and Sunshine Has Blown, and as a solo artist. Stern is a Vice Chancellor's Research Fellow at RMIT School of Media and Communication, and an Associate Investigator at ADM+S. Plus, between 2013 and 2022, he was the Artistic Director of Liquid Architecture, a Naarm-based non-profit organization supporting sonic art, contemporary performance and discourse.
