Liturgy almost instantly became one of the most controversial rock bands of this generation thanks to their 2011 album "Aesthethica" and the "Transcendental Black Metal" manifesto of frontman Hunter Hunt-Hendrix. Their most recent release is this year's "The Ark Work", which turned out to be even more divisive, pushing the black metal genre further into new directions by combining tremolo guitars with glitchy electronic sounds, digital horn sections and unusual rhythms. “The Art Word” has cemented Liturgy's reputation for invention and originality - but nothing quite compares to their ferocious live show.
