Lawrence English is an Australian producer, media artist, curator and founder of the Room40 label. One of the most important ideas behind his music is the relation between space and sound, which led him to pursue field recording techniques and investigate the politics of perception. His vast discography includes production credits for the likes of Ben Frost and Tujiko Noriko, as well as dozens of solo and collaborative releases (Grouper, David Toop, Scanner, DJ Olive et al.). Last year's "Wilderness of Mirrors" might be his best album yet, a carefully layered, dramatically tense ambient album filled with delicate, vibrating drones. Lawrence English appeared as one of the surprise artists at Unsound 2015.
