A/V duo Jikogu are back, curating an all-night program of obscurities riffing on the Flower Power theme. Taking place at Kino Pod Baranami, the screening starts at midnight on Saturday, 7th October, and lasts until the wee hours of the Sunday’s morning. Groovy. Now here’s the full program:

Sins of the Fleshapoids (1966, US, dir. Mike Kuchar, 43 mins): The Kuchar brothers are the dons of all things “art-filth”. Nuclear survivors face a revolt from their robot slaves The Fleshapoids, who have developed emotionally complex personalities.

Kiss, Kiss, Kiss (1964, JP, dir. Tadonori Yokoo, 17 mins): Artist Yokoo creates a playful animation via observations on current pop culture & the flower generation, American and European idols, and their underlying obsessions.

Chamsin (1972, DE/IL, dir. Veit Relin, 82 mins): A psychedelic, cross-cultural, Israeli-lensed hippy trip with sonic permutations from Kraut Legends Amon Duul, this freeform mind-buzz was only recently discovered via an obscure Greek VHS release.

Flowers (1968-69, JP, dir. Takahiko Iimura, 11 mins): Legendary Japanese experimental pioneer of film and video Takahiko Iimura embellishes the hippie movement through filming the body paintings of artist Kusama Yayoi, utilising the collected performers in motion.

Microscopic Liquid Subway to Oblivion (1970, IT, dir. John W. Shadow, 85 mins): Another mythical, long-lost Euro counterculture obscurity with only a rare Greek VHS release to its name, Microscopic Liquid Subway to Oblivion takes the teen flower power genre and flips it on its head via a story of drugs and obsession.
