The first night in the iconic Hotel Forum features a program that goes beyond club music. The Ballroom includes new forms of industrial music, from Lotic’s hybrid manifest of power and JASSS’s abstract sounds to Blawan’s modular techno, while everyone’s favourite DJ, Ben UFO, will close the room. Intruder Alert’s jjijijijj opens.
The Chandelier Room begins intimately, with a dreamy show by Oklou, only to take unexpected twists into bass music, from the dubby hip-hop of Poland’s Syny through Deena Abdelwahed’s combination of club music and Arab traditions and Kampire’s showcase of African dance music. Footwork originator RP Boo plays a set that will be opened with a short live show from Hubert Zemler on drums.
The Kitchen lineup features two artists associated with the Algorave movement, Renick Bell and Miri Kat, as well as coders participating in their Unsound workshop. Gábor Lázár follows with a show of extreme computer music and light, while Ziúr explores the noisy spectrum of club music.
