Umfang is a techno DJ and producer known for co-founding New York’s Discwoman, a leading force in raising awareness of women and genderqueer performers in electronic music. She’s also holding a Technofeminism residency at Bossa Nova Civic Club and has stormed many of Europe’s coolest parties with her speedy banging sets, from Warsaw’s Brutaż to Berlin’s Berghain. Her productions are in a more spaced-out direction, as evidenced on “Symbolic Use of Light”, released recently by Ninja Tune’s sublabel Technicolour, as well as previous recordings for 1080p.
