James Hoff


Brooklyn-based multidisciplinary artist James Hoff boasts a impressive art world resume, but in the music world he is mostly known for his excellent PAN contributions, such as “Blaster”, named after a computer virus that was used to deform sounds found on the album. At Unsound 2017 he’s going to present a brand new version of his “Hobo UFO” audiovisual project - also to be released on PAN - that will explore Pripyat, a city in Chernobyl’s Zone of Exclusion. “Hobo UFO” combines the sounds of radio frequency signals with a modified version of Google Maps streetview that responds to sound, tackling the idea of the digitization of our environment and how the language of computing, which has gradually shifted our perspective of nature.
