Rrose vs. Man Ray - Please Touch / Leave Me Alone

Californian inter-disciplinary artist Seth Horvitz has been wowing discerning listeners for over two decades, first as Sutekh in the late 1990s when they emerged in the throes of the glitch movement, and later as Rrose, their most enduring project. Named after Marcel Duchamp's female alter ego Rrose Sélavy, the project emerged in 2010 after Horvitz became fascinated with psychoacoustics, xenharmonic scales and the idiosyncrasies of machines. Since then, they have released a constant flow of challenging, leftfield dance music that draws from the experiments of 20th century composers James Tenney and Charlemagne Palestine while simultaneously focusing on the body. Their latest album 'Please Touch', released on their own Eaux label, shifts imperceptibly through rhythms and tempos, using advanced tonality and unpredictability to capture the dancefloor's lost physicality. Fittingly, Horvitz will be playing at Unsound 2023 alongside a sequence of hand-picked dada films.
