Blawan (LIVE)

Debuting back in 2010 on Hessle Audio with the brilliantly understated 'Fram', Barnsley-born Jamie Roberts has spent the last 13 years dreaming up his own brand of experimental dancefloor music. Not quite techno, not quite dubstep and not quite garage, Blawan's sound inhabits the space in-between, whether he's breaking the industrial mold with the popular 'Why They Hide Their Bodies Under My Garage' or testing the limits of the modular synthesizer on his run of self-released Ternesc EPs. This year, he returned to the legendary XL Recordings label with 'Dismantled into Juice', a genre-breaking alloy of xenharmonic wails, skittering beats and soundsystem bothering subs that proves he's still operating completely on his own wavelength.
