Tirzah
One of London's most consistently invigorating artists, Tirzah Mastin has been crafting filigree leftfield pop marvels since she was a teenager, writing music with her long-time friend Mica Levi in their school's technology room. They began recording in earnest back in the early 2010s, developing a dreamy, nonchalant style that fused dusty trip-hop and grime with dreamy R&B. The success of her first EP 'I'm Not Dancing' led to a slew of collaborations with Kwes, Tricky, DELS, Baauer, Mura Masa, Dean Blunt, Coby Sey and others, but it's her dizzying full-lengths that have left the most lasting impact. Her last album, 2021's 'Colourgrade', was a fuzzy, psychedelic odyssey, written as she contemplated motherhood after the birth of her first child. Deeply moving and unashamedly experimental, it presents a faded picture of London's complicated current reality.
