If you've been watching carefully, you'll know that São Paulo is currently home to some of the world's most creative experimental dance music. DJ K is one of the purveyors of the "bruxaria" sound, a sinister, carnivalesque take on Brazilian funk that's known for its peculiar high-pitched percussion, horror samples and wildly inventive vocals. Producing music since he was 17, DJ K heads up the Bruxaria Sound collective, a 17-artist crew who make tracks that destroy headphones and torment the eardrums. It's a psychedelic trip to the edge of consciousness that's best experienced on this year's Nyege Nyege-released 'PANICO NO SUBMUNDO'.
