ECONOMIC INSTABILITY IN DANCE CULTURES, PRESENTED WITH RA
FREE
Description
Is nightlife more inaccessible than ever? How do we sustain independent artistry? Following the publication of the Resident Advisor article ‘Is Electronic Music Becoming Inaccessible to the Working Classes?’ earlier this year, this panel will investigate these issues from three perspectives: a promoter, a grassroots artist and a booking agent. Moderated by RA's editor-in-chief Whitney Wei, the one-hour discussion will unpack the barriers to enter an increasingly complicated music ecosystem, look at how these may have increased post-pandemic, and consider community-oriented solutions for the future. Wei will be joined by Dtekk, a DJ and promoter from Białystok, where he curates the Up to Date Festival and engages in cultural activism, artist and DJ Ziúr, and writer and booking agent Yuko Asanuma, founder of Setten.
