At only 20 years old Kamogelo Phetla might be young, but the South African DJ and producer has been building up his reputation as one of his country's most innovative artists since he was just 17. Initially a rapper, he achieved notoriety after tweaking the amapiano formula on his run of "Baby Boy" releases, refining his sound to a fine point on last year's phenomenal double album "Far Away From Home". Fusing gut-punching log drums - the defining characteristic of the amapiano genre - with the sultry shuffle of deep house, Phetla locks into the groove that's his birthright. His dad is DJ Spring, one half of veteran South African duo The Godfathers of Deep House SA, so his power and dedication should come as no surprise.
