DJ Lag is one of the originators of gqom, one of the most exciting new club genres to emerge in the last few years. This South African version of house music has a very distinct sound that has been likened to early dubstep for its heavy bass sound and ominous atmosphere, as well as Chicago’s footwork for its hypnotic repetitive quality. In 2016, DJ Lag played his debut European show at Unsound Kraków, and now he’s the first gqom artist to perform in Australia.
