Alexander Kaline is a New York-based musician and sound artist. Alexander began shaping his musical direction in the early 90's, emphasizing his interest in free improvisation, experimental music and sound art. His research is focused on sounds in space as well as algorithmic synthesis events, in particular through live performance. His music explores silence, abstract sounds, acoustic textures and randomized electronic noises in an effort towards free imagination and re-creation. His practice includes building custom instruments, often utilizing unusual techniques to incorporate new and unexpected aspects to live music.

Alexander is currently working on sound projects with Edward Krilov as Alka_Rex and David Last as Konque. Other projects involve video installation research as part of Portable Palace with Evelina Domnitch and Dmitry Gelfand. He has released musical works on record labels such as Mille Plateaux, Musique Risquee, Resopal Schallware, Thema, Konque and Line.
