Mountains is a duo founded in Chicago, made up of Brendon Anderegg and Koen Holtkamp, a vehicle they created for live performance. Despite having released three albums (the latest on Thrill Jockey), their main love remains sculpting sound before an audience. Electronic sounds, field recordings, an array of acoustic instruments – all are woven together to create broad soundscapes that remain rich in details. The effect is both sublime and hypnotic, warranting the comparison to artists such as Brian Eno and Fennesz. Mountains are now based in Brooklyn.
