MFO
MFO is an artist collective that works in the field of visual media. MFO create and play video performances, produce installations and music videos. MFO was founded in 2001 as VJ solo project of Marcel Weber. In the following years MFO experimented itself into the form of a group by varying collaborations. Different abilities and techniques are combined in a unique and original way. The centre of MFOs interest are intensity and distinct aesthetics. Technology is subordinated. Pure effect is declined. MFOs works aim at subconscious over conscious, at emotional over intellect, at ambiguous over well-defined.
MFO performed at festivals like Club Transmediale (Berlin), Paysages Electroniques (Lille), Unsound (Cracow) or Todays Art (Den Haag). VJ-shows were played at sound:frame (Vienna), RecMadrid (Madrid), Territorious (Sevilla) or Versch.org (Amsterdam). In 2008 MFO won the VJ award of the International Videofestival Bochum. They also hold residencies as visual artists at different event series within Berlin focused on the exploration of contemporary electronic music and their aesthetics.
Furthermore MFO participated in productions of the high culture as a video designer. I.e. at the Opera Nationale de Paris, at the Akademie der Kunste Berlin (academy of arts Berlin), at the Brut Theatre in Vienna.
