At only 21 years of age, James Blake has created something of a sensation over the past year, having released singles and an EP that explore a more introspective side to the dance floor, created in the wake of dubstep. His recognisable style is made up of playful soul and jazz chords and carefully constructed patterns of vocals, beats, sub-bass and small detailed sounds. "CMYK", his most recent release, is primarily built around samples from 90s R&B to create tracks that reach both into the past and future. Until recently, James was also involved in the live shows of duo Mount Kimbie, and he's done remixes for them, as well as Untold.
