19-year old Austrian Anja Plaschg is a unique music discovery and a prodigious talent. Melancholy and containing a dark beauty, her debut album “Lovetune for Vacumn” was released this year, gaining rave reviews for its collection of skeletal arrangements performed on the piano and accompanied by Plaschg’s memorable voice. Comparisons have been made with the likes of Nico, Bjork and John Cale, with whom she shared a stage in early 2009. Soap&Skin’s music is also suffused with moments involving laptop experimentation, underlining her forward thinking approach to song writing.
