Grouper is Liz Harris, a one-woman ambient project from Portland, United States involving guitar, vocals and experimental sounds. She has three albums, including the critically acclaimed Way Their Crept and Dragging A Dead Deer Up A Hill, both currently available on Type Records. Otherworldly, blissful and full of mysterious vocals, the music on these albums is often compared to projects on 4AD Records, such as Cocteau Twins. Grouper has released collaborative work with Xiu Xiu, and recently toured extensively with Animal Collective. Known for songs such as Heavy Water / I’d Rather Be Sleeping, her transfixing live shows can be very different from her recorded material, verging more towards the experimental.
