Carl Craig
Perhaps no artist in electronic music commands as much respect from fans and peers alike as Detroit-based DJ and producer Carl Craig. As an artist, label-owner and club DJ, he is one of the few who has literally helped shape the sound of modern electronic music with an inventive career that has spanned 20 years. Recording under his own name and many aliases – including 69, Psyche, BFC, Paperclip People, Innerzone Orchestra, C2, Tres Demented and others – Craig owns a constellation of seminal recordings that have established him as an icon in the techno genre. Increasingly, Craig has been moving into live performance with Innerzone Orchestra (now featuring three keyboardists, including Underground Resistance's Mad Mike), a full symphony orchestra (performances in Paris and Milan), original Detroit spiritual jazz collective Tribe and SHAPE, his new trio with Mortiz Von Oswald and classical pianist Francesco Tristano. To date, none of these performances have taken place in the US, so now for the first time in many years Carl will be playing a very special live soundtrack to Andy Warhol's classic "Blow Job" specially commissioned for Unsound New York.
