Sam Shackleton's first release was on the Mordant Music label. Subsequently, he built a reputation on the Skull Disco label he co-founded with Appleblim, developing futher a highly distinctive take on dubstep with intricate, snaking forms of percussion, hypnotic melodies and deep bass lines. Skull Disco closed shop in 2008, but Shackleton has powered onward as a major force in contemporary club music. His Perlon release Three EP's was one of the stand-out electronic music works of 2009, its skeletal structures lurking in the darkest, most experimental corners of club music. His live sets are also an innovative and memorable experience.
