Tape
Tape are a Stockholm based trio. Their early work fused gentle free jazz and field recordings with ambient sounds, also bringing in elements of Swedish folk music and broken pop balladry. Defying easy categorization, it sounded like a search for a new kind of pop, with depth and intelligence, guided by experimentation whilst simultaneously eschewing the label “experimental”. Their first albums were “Opera” and “Milieu”, which slowly but steadily gained Tape an international following. Their last full length work, “Luminarium”, has seen the band evolve further, creating a fully composed sound that employ a range of acoustic instruments and electronics to create work that continues to boldly defy genre. It’s a musical approach that makes them suit perfectly a night co-presented by Unsound and Wordless Music.
