No Body - Workshops and activities for the club community around Unsound Festival

Over the past few months, we have collaborated with the Henryk Foundation to implement a series of workshops aimed at strengthening the local club community in Krakow. We started our activities in December with DJ workshops for the Ukrainian queer community. Thanks to the cooperation with Klub Spotkań Poczta Główna and HEVRE, Facheroia taught basic techniques of mixing electronic music for two days, and for the intermediate group, she discussed the narrative structure of DJ sets. The workshops were combined with two meetings with psychologist and party worker Tomasz Mendofik on safer club spaces and harm reduction practices.

In February, we held three anti-discrimination workshops for security personnel and managers at HEVRE and Prozak 2.0. The aim was to continue our Mutual Respect project, providing support and countering discrimination based on gender, age, race, or sexual orientation. Magda Dropek, an experienced anti-discrimination educator, co-organizer of Queerowy Maj and the Krakow Equality March, worked with participants on specific cases, discussing diversity and inclusivity.

We know that this is just the beginning of a long journey towards building a friendly ecology of events in Krakow, but we are delighted that more and more clubs in the city are welcoming non-heteronormative people in their spaces and opening up to introducing changes. We plan to organize more DJ workshops, so we encourage you to follow our social media channels where we will inform you about the latest events. The project was implemented with the support of the Active Citizens Fund – National is funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA Grants.
