Unsound news day 8: Sunday October 6
It’s the last day of Unsound! Thanks for joining us on this massive journey. There are still a few things on, including a few free events.
You can attend Sunday Chapel at Hedwig’s, a bar in a desacralised baroque chapel built in the 14th-century, with Piotr Kurek playing an extended DJ set from 12:00-15:00. At 15:00 the BMW Art Club Garden opens in the garden of the Juliusz Słowacki Theater. Here, Ukrainian-born Polish-based DJ Zoi Michailova will present soundscapes made within the frame of the fifth BMW Art Club. Joining her is kacha, half of the experimental pop duo Coals, with an ambient set with live vocals. These events are free.
From the garden, we move inside to the Juliusz Słowacki Theater for DIFFUSION. This event is fully sold out. There will not be tickets at the door.
Polish guitarist Raphael Rogiński returns to close the festival, this year presenting Plays John Coltrane and Langston Hughes, his 2015 landmark album that the Unsound label has just reissued in expanded form (and for which he received Best New Reissue on Pitchfork). He will be joined by Elder Ones’ Amirtha Kidambi. Composer and sound artist Raven Chacon will perform an intervention based on his sound works, followed by American composer Laurel Halo, bringing her new album Atlas to the stage with French cellist Leila Bordreuil.
Of course we can’t leave it at that. This year, the closing event will go back to our roots of free parties in Krakovian cellars with BASH. In the intimate Alchemia cellar in Kazimierz, listen to live shows by Australian noise outfit Concentration, Krakow’s ehh hahah, as well as an intervention in the form of an AI-created harsh noise set made by AI mavericks Dadabots. DJ sets come from Zuli and Seb b2b hermeneia. 100% free! We will post the lineup order in the afternoon.
