IMPULSE

Description

Inspired by the industrial whirr of Łódź, SSRI ease us into Saturday night in Room 1 with their waterlogged take on experimental dub. Iranian-Canadian duo Saint Abdullah, Irish producer Eomac and filmmaker Rebecca Salvadori take it from there with a performance of their newest A/V project A Forbidden Distance, commissioned by Unsound, Atonal, Semibreve and Sónar as part of TIMES. An intervention comes from Japanese legend Keiji Haino who's been setting the benchmark for extreme experimental music for over five decades to shuttle us into the unknown. Aïsha Devi and Slikback are up next with a premiere of their new project AKA HEX, featuring guest appearances from two unforgettable vocalists: Lord Spikeheart and bela. And then we're setting the dancefloor on fire with the first-ever back to back from British underground mainstay Actress and Munich powerhouse Skee Mask this one's going to be special. Mexican rising star Regal86 picks up from there with a frenetic update of retro hardgroove sounds. A closing DJ will be added soon.

Over in Room 2, hauntological aether-pop specialist Bianca Scout kicks things off with a phantasmagorical live set, before Polish/British duo Bassvictim blast us with their signature basspunk sound. 2K88, who just released SHAME on the Unsound label, will be breaking bread with Brussels-based Moroccan DJ ojoo in their first back-to-back, and then we'll pivot to DJ /rupture, an American DJ, writer and interdisciplinary artist whose mythical and influential early mixtapes examined the links between folk styles, rap, extreme noise and breakcore. Venezuelan DJ and producer Safety Trance (also known as Cardopusher) squares up to Manuka Honey next for a chaotic journey through the globe's sexiest, hardest-hitting club sounds. Closing the room is Poland’s Gummi.
