Lankum

Irish four-piece Lankum take their name from John Reilly Jr.'s Traveller ballad 'False Lankum', a title they also used to brand their dizzying fourth album. The Mercury-nominated full-length was one of the underground highlights of 2023, an interconnected 70-minute sonic tapestry that weaves the band's traditional folk threads with industrial and experimental knots, drawing listeners into an intense, psychedelic medley of contemporary and historical references. And their live show is even more celebrated: playing multiple acoustic instruments such as the uilleaan pipes, fiddle, accordion, guitar, tin whistle and percussion, Lankum provide a dense canvas of noise for their evocative, saltwater-soaked vocal harmonies.
