DJ /rupture

A writer, interdisciplinary artist, producer and DJ, Jace Clayton (aka DJ /rupture) emerged in the '90s as a member of Boston's Toneburst collective, quickly achieving wider notoriety when he posted his genre defying 'Gold Teeth Thief' mixtape online in 2001. Making links between rap, breakcore, industrial music, IDM and the furthest reaches of the avant garde, Clayton set a new benchmark for the format, following it up a year later with the bizarre and brilliant 'Minesweeper Suite'. Since then, he's released a number of his own productions, collaborating with Kid606, The Ex's Andy Moor and Matt Shadetek, restaged two Julius Eastman compositions on 'The Julius Eastman Memory Depot' in 2013 and expanded on his rigorous writing for the legendary mudd up! blog with 2016's digital-age travelogue 'Uproot: Travels in 21st-Century Music and Digital Culture'.
