CCL b2b Lee Gamble

Currently based in Berlin, but drawing influence from their time living in Bristol and Seattle, CCL is a bold, dedicated selector, whose understanding of the dancefloor is a rare as it is meticulous. Their genre-agnostic view of dance music has brought them significant acclaim - their sprawling 'Ode to the Queer Steppas' mix was named one of the best mixes of the decade by Resident Advisor - and listening to them play, you can expect the unexpected. Angular post-punk, soundsystem ripping bass, hypnotic techno, sultry vintage house and pneumatic footwork is blended expertly into a billowing psychedelic narrative that CCL twists with tension and subtle euphoria.

Growing up in Birmingham, Lee Gamble was surrounded by chaos and innovation. As the remnants of the industrial revolution crumbled, dub, techno and jungle sounds collided with grindcore metal and whimsical psychedelia, creating a soundtrack to a new future. This unique essence still guides Gamble's work, whether he's producing hallucinogenic full-length's like last year's Hyperdub-released 'Models', collaborating with London Contemporary Orchestra, presenting work in the world's most prestigious galleries or straddling the decks. His DJ sets are notorious at this stage in his career - not only are they primed for dancers, but they reach through the history of bass music, twisting echoes of the past into dazzling new shapes.
