Bill Callahan

Appearing in the late 1980s under the Smog moniker, American singer-songwriter Bill Callahan spent the next couple of decades redefining lo-fi music, often using battered instruments to accompany his freeform, poetic baritone. And although he tightened up his sound in the years that followed, sharing the studio with producers like Jim O'Rourke and John McEntire, that grittiness remains. Since 2007's 'Woke on a Whaleheart', he's been releasing under his own name, including 2022's barbed 'YTI⅃AƎЯ', his most politically incisive work to date. Bill will perform a rare solo show at Unsound.
