MARGINAL CONSORT

Description

After five long years, Unsound returns to one of our audiences most beloved venues, a former 19th-century tram hall at the The Museum of Engineering and Technology in Kazimierz, where Japanese improv group Marginal Consort will make their eagerly awaited appearance, sure to be a festival highlight. The band formed from the ashes of East Bionic Symphonia – a group of improvisers who studied under Fluxus legend Takehisa Kosugi – materialising in 1997 to perform very rarely, always uninterrupted for a minimum of three hours. Now made up of Kazuo Imai, Tomonao Koshikawa, Kei Shii, and Masami Tada, Marginal Consort refrain from discussing their shows beforehand and shy away from making anything that could be considered standard music, instead choosing to emphasise the exploratory nature of their collaboration. Just know you’re going to witness something absolutely singular.

Note: this event is not included in the Unsound pass and requires a separate ticket. The show will last precisely three hours without intermission.
