It’s the third day of Unsound! What’s on in Krakow, and what’s online?
Firstly, though, a ticket update. We’ve released a batch of tickets online for tonight’s event Hold on For Dear Life, tomorrow’s event Domain and Saturday night’s event Node. Once these tickets are sold out online, you’ll be able to buy tickets at the door for all events, depending on capacity. Tickets are available online and will be available at the door for tonight’s live score for the film Candyman.
As for today’s events, Morning Glory takes place at 11:00 am, featuring a collaboration between sound artist Sofie Birch, from Copenhagen, and Polish vocalist and experimental musician Antonina Nowacka. They will perform in the Tempel synagogue in Kazimierz. Entry is a 10 zloty donation made to the synagogue.
The discourse program starts at 12:00, with a discussion featuring two leading Polish musicians presenting new work at Unsound: Wacław Zimpel and Paweł Szamburski. The meeting will be hosted by Jennifer Lucy Allan. (Unfortunately, Zosia Hołubowska and Bulat Khalilov are unable to attend.) Also at 12:00, a LARP session sees participants create a story together, travelling to a place called PSY-SOMA-TEK using various out-of-body techniques.
At 1.30 pm, Aaron Benanav will discuss his book Automation and the Future of Work, uncovering the structural economic trends that will shape our working lives far into the future. At 2.45pm, Mat Dryhurst will present a live session of Interdependence – a podcast by Dryhurst and Holly Herndon – featuring DeForrest Brown, Jr. and Nora Khan, who will discuss changes over the past 18 months in culture and technology. At 4.15pm, researchers Murad Khan and Martin Disley will give a presentation on speculative voices and machine learning, while Resident Advisor will present an artist talk with Tygapaw at 5pm. At 5.30pm, researcher and designer Simone Niquille will give a presentation on domestic robots.
At 7pm in ICE, Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe and an ensemble will present the premiere performance of the live score to the horror film Candyman. Opening is Aleksandra Słyż, performing a work with visual artist Maks Posio. Afterward, the late night event at Hypepark includes premiere live sets from LSDXOXO, Harlecore & Sam Rolfes and Julek Ploski, live sets from Scotch Rolex feat.
