Unsound 2014 boasts many collaborations, but tonight is especially packed. A major festival commission sees Ren Schofield, aka Container, joining forces with Norwegian drummers Kenneth Kapstad and Tomas Järmyr, who will effectively become “human drum machines”. This project is curated with Mattis With. Brooklyn’s avant-rock heavyweights Zs featuring Sam Hillmer, Patrick Higgins and drummer Greg Fox, unite with Icelandic cellist and songwriter Gyða Valtýsdóttir, former member of the band Múm. Legendary French guitarist and electronic musician Richard Pinhas meets radical psychedelic duo Kapital, from Poland. Opening is Warsaw musician Piotr Kurek with a live score for the 1958 absurdist short ”Rondo”, directed by Janusz Majewski.
