Unsound 2013’s opening night presents experimental musicians working the territory between silence and noise to create hypnotic patterns, tension and moments of disruption. Finnish artist Mika Vainio is best known for his output with Pan Sonic, but continues to combine force and restraint in his music to form a frightening unity. Poland’s Anna Zaradny has forged an international reputation for her intense, highly focused sound. Tropic of Cancer imbue song structures with experimentation, and appear in support of their new album on Blackest Ever Black with a live show promising to expand on their dark, textured industrial sound.
