This is the first of three sprawling club nights located in the post-communist Hotel Forum, with the former kitchen debuting as Room 3. Room 1’s focus is on artists working with industrial sounds, including Ewa Justka and her homemade noise machines, Pharmakon’s noise-trance music, Moor Mother’s radical mix of sounds and poetics, and Varg’s dark sense of humour. DJ sets come from Nina Kraviz of трип and NY’s trailblazing technofeminist Umfang. Zakład Ostatniej Posługi will open the room with an ambient set. Room 2 hosts live takes on house and techno with cryptic transmissions from Brutaż-affiliated Mchy i Porosty, industrial groove specialist Maoupa Mazzochetti, an ecstatic improvised set from Karen Gwyer, and a rave-tinged PTU show. Rounding out the lineup is Tzusing from L.I.E.S. with a DJ set. Room 3 hosts artists influenced by various global traditions. VTSS’ debut live performance as TRY is informed by Polish folk music. Black Zone Myth Chant and DJ Lycox’s music stems from African rhythms, working with psychedelic sounds and batida music respectively, while Jim C. Nedd & Palm Wine channel Colombia’s Picó sound systems, a creative and rebellious street dance culture. Manchester’s finest party Swing Ting come with MC Fox to close the room in style.
Black Zone Myth Chant, Maoupa Mazzocchetti and Varg are presented with the SHAPE Platform.
