Kink Gong is Laurent Jeanneau’s project focused on ethnic field recordings, mostly from South East Asia. His vast collection amassed over two decades includes fascinating recordings from China, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam. Jeanneau is also an experimental artist, recomposing the original recordings into recontextualized soundscapes. Kink Gong will present recordings from Tanzania as part of Listening Stations. This includes the ceremonies of the Hadza people, living in the north of the country, as well as rituals from the Makonde people and Muslims recorded in Mtwara, Southern Tanzania.
