Unsound sparks to life with a rare performance from self-styled culture jammers Negativland, who’ve been plundering and mashing up American culture since the 1970s, foreshadowing our current reality of Internet memes, AI-era copyright discussions and magpie-like DJ sets. Negativland’s performance will be accompanied by work from video artist SUE-C. Contemporary punk trio PLF propel DIY idealism into a new era, marking out fresh territory with Welsh artist Elvin Brandhi’s feral vocals, Lukas König’s kinetic percussion and Peter Kutin’s handmade noise machines. Rrose (whose name references Marcel Duchamp’s alter ego) draws on music from their recent release, Please Touch, transforming it into a fusion of rhythm and advanced tonality set to a reworked version of Man Ray’s short film Emak-Bakia (1926). But that’s not all: be prepared for an Unsound in(ter)vention from Warsaw improviser and visual artist Anna Zaradny.
