Mikael Seifu is a leading producer of the Addis-Ababa scene in Ethiopia, the creator of a style of music he has called “ethiopiyawi electronic”, as heard on his truly unique “Zelalem” and “The Lost Drum Beat” releases. Mikael’s music does not westernize Ethiopian music. Rather, Mikael follows the ethiojazz spirit of mixing disparate styles into new and cohesive sounds, seamlessy making local folk and contemporary digital music indistinguishable.
