Taking place on 5th and 6th October 2019, Unsound Lab is a two-day music industry workshop for agents and managers who are just starting out or early in their careers, with a focus on those based in Poland, Central and Eastern Europe. The aim is to help address the disparity in international representation of artists from this region.
Mentors have been selected as a result of our own experience, with classes led by people working in booking, management and publishing agencies, journalists, lawyers, and artist support institutions. We’ve had the pleasure to work with all of them and feel their practical knowledge will be helpful to anyone aspiring to build a career in the music industry. They will share their knowledge, describe their work, successes and challenges, and will also be available for individual consultation.
Participants include Toby Donelly, the manager of Mica Levi, an Oscar-nominated composer (for her OST for Jackie); Frankie Decaiza Hutchinson from Discwoman, the NY agency raising the visibility of women on the electronic music scene; and Daniell Wade, creative director of Decca Publishing, the company that takes care of film music composer Clint Mansell, among others. Polish artists Wacław Zimpel, Resina and Lutto Lento will speak about their experience and successes on the international market.
You can find the sign up form, full list of speakers and workshop schedule at unsound.pl/pages/unsound-lab. You can sign up until 10th September. Anyone can apply, but applicants from Poland, Central and Eastern Europe will be prioritised. Workshops cost 200 PLN, and include catering. The number of participants is limited, and the program is in English.
