Holly Herndon

Berlin-based American Holly Herndon explores our complicated relationships with technology through cutting edge sound design. The American composer and avant-garde electronic music producer comes to Unsound Adelaide with her acclaimed Platform show, based on the album of the same title. It has found her exploring more song-based structures, and creating futuristic pop music through cut-up vocals, complex rhythms and advanced digital textures. Celebrating the laptop as the most personal instrument, she writes love songs to NSA agents, turns her browser history into samples and delves into the autonomous sensory meridian response phenomenon - unsettling and ethereal at the same time. She performs at Unsound Adelaide with Colin Self and Mat Dryhurst, her Australian premiere and exclusive to the festival.
