Unsound Adelaide returns as an expanded stand-alone festival after four widely acclaimed editions within the framework of the Adelaide Festival.
With an almost totally exclusive program of artists making their first appearances in Australia, the 2017 festival program is more risk-taking than ever before, collapsing and blurring ideas of genres. Legendary names are pitched up against the very latest tendencies in electronic music, featuring noise, abrasive beats, mutated techno, ambience, improv, blown out rock, and splashes of colour and humour.
Performances in Thebarton Theatre are followed by two late night Unsound Adelaide Club events that will take things even further, subverting and twisting expectations.
For the first time, Unsound Adelaide also includes a discourse program presented by University of South Australia, giving context to the music events, as well as sound installations by groundbreaking artists.
Events will take place in venues across Adelaide including the Thebarton Theatre, Fowler’s Live, Adelaide Botanic Garden, and the Hawke Centre.
