Unsound x Nyege Nyege Present
FREE ENTRY
Description
The connection between Nyege Nyege and Unsound goes back to 2017, when we were the first European festival to reach out to the Ugandan label and festival. Since we can’t meet physically, we wanted to maintain this link via a small session of co-presented online shows.
Kicking things off are leading Polish percussionists Miłosz Pękala & Hubert Zemler, who will perform interpretations of two pieces by electronic musician Jlin: Black Origami, as well as a track commissioned by the Mickiewicz Institute in which Jlin reworks music from the Polish Experimental Radio Studio.
Following is a live recording of HHY & The Kampala Unit playing in Hotel Forum at Unsound 2019, in the early morning, including electronics, trumpet and drums.
Lastly, the Kalalu Traditional Troupe will perform. They play the traditional music of the Basoga people, a tribe living around the town of Jinja in Central / Eastern Uganda, with instruments including pan pipes, xylophone, fiddle, drums and dancing.
This event is free of charge, but you can support it and donate here.
